How come only millionaires usually get elected to the Senate?

Posted on October 31st, 2011 by admin in senate | 9 Comments »

How come there are no average joes in there? And how in the world can a multimillionaire even relate to the average joes he is supposed to be representing in Congress? Most of the folks in the Senate are former CEO’s, former successful attorneys, doctors, wealthy entrepeneurs, doctors, etc. And it’s not just the Senate, it’s the House of Representatives, too. There are disproportionate amount of wealthy professionals in the House too.

Politicians, and so called leaders worldwide, are the epitome of the con artist. You have to be a lying skunk to survive amongst them. A novice would have a very hard time of it. I don’t think it has ever been different. They promise the things that no government can deliver, yet the masses still believe it all.
As for our skunks;
They promise campaign finance reform bills and never pass them. This is the key, maintain the status quo.
There are more "lobbyists" in DC than ever! The best we can do is join a group that has a lobbyist in DC and support them in any way we can. Only a group has any hope of getting heard.

How can politics and leadership be unable to exist at the same time?

Posted on October 31st, 2011 by admin in politics | 6 Comments »

I have a debate coming up this week and the topic is "That Politics and Leadership are mutually exclusive" I’m on the affirmative side so I’m agreeing with the statement. So essentially what I have to say is that politics and leadership are unable to exist at the same time. I’m having some trouble coming up with some points to prove this theory. For example I am unable to explain how Julia Gillard (Prime Minister of Australia), or Barrack Obama for that case are not leaders. Please help, I’m really struggling to come up with something!!
Thanks :)

LOL GPS debating topics are such crap. I’m on the negative. Basically, the negative side of this topic has the complete easy road for this debate, the only way they would possibly lose is if they absolutely suck. Basically the point is to harp on about bad cases of leadership especially those bound by the military. Good Luck

Edit: Decent points ?, but how can you say they are the same when politics is the ‘business’ involved in government and leadership is ‘the process of social influence’, i.e setting an example. Many politicians are good politically but cannot lead, thus are not party leaders.

What happens if I win an election for president of a society, but my Nomination form is not valid?

Posted on October 31st, 2011 by admin in election | 1 Comment »

Hi. What if the candidate needs to have 10 members of the society to sign a nomination form in order to run for an executive position, but after the elections are over, I win, but later someone complains that my nomination form is invalid because i forged some signatures? (like 2 out of the 10). I

Is it too late because the voting is done, and the issue should have been brought up before election day, or can the court revoke my president position?

The court would never get involved, because no laws would have been broken, and nobody can claim a financial loss. How it’s handled would depend on the rules and structure of the society. Probably the society would have some sort of election committee that precided over the election process. My guess is that they would make a ruling.

My own judgment about what would be fair: If the forgeries were deliberate, I’d say that disqualies you, and may lead to other sanctions as well. If it was accidental, I think that the election committee is to blame for not catching the error sooner. Assuming you can get 10 valid signatures *after* the fact (which should be no trouble), I’d say the election results should stand.

The joy of septic tank problems!

My husband went in for an operation on his leg last week and is now hobbling around on crutches. Although it’s only two extra piece of metal you’d be surprised at how much extra space he seems to take up. I suppose what with his trying to be careful around his bad leg which had grown a few inches because of the swelling and bandages and the crutches he has really. Although I do almost everything around the house he does do a few of what I call the ‘man jobs’. I try to get him to cut the grass (although I’ll do it it’s a way to get him out in the fresh air!) and things like checking the oil and the septic tank. The problem is although I got him to check the oil and mow the grass the week before he went into hospital I forgot to ask him to check the septic tank.

Sods law we’re now having septic tank problems and I will now have to find out where and who I’m meant to speak to to get the septic tank problems solved. The joys of septic tank problems.
