Rajiv’s killers: Jayalalithaa, Karuna play politics
Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa has rejected the DMK’s public appeal to save the three assassins of Rajiv Gandhi from the death sentence. Jaya accused the DMK of playing politics on the matter, pointing out that no one had the power to alter a Presidential order that rejected a clemency plea. The three assassins – Murugan, Perarivalan and Santhan are slated to be hanged on 9th September. The President has rejected their mercy petitions twice.
